Creative Movement

It is typically best to start Creative Movement dance classes from as young as 14 months to 2 years. These specialized classes for toddlers are used to acclimate little ones to the structure of dance class are less formal, less structured, and focus more on developing and expressing motor and listening skills at a young age. The term ‘Creative Movement' is used to describe the basics of dance such as:

*Listening to the music and learning to turn that into movement
*Development of expression of the body and the face
*Awareness of the body (where are the feet? how do they move?)
*Learning to differentiate between movements (how a butterfly moves, how an elephant acts, etc)

Our EvOLvE teachers help your little one work on:
*Learning how to listen to the teacher and following orders
*Learning how to move about in a space with other dancers
*Technique can be introduced, but is not the main part of the class.

Reasons to do Creative Movement before offering technique:
*It is more similar to the world little kids live in and therefore hold more appeal to them
*This is the best age period to develop awareness of differences in feelings/moving/music etc. The later you start, the harder it is to develop

Studies have shown that stimulation in the form of movement and sensory experiences during the early developing years is crucial. For more information, you can read about it here.
