As experts in teaching dance to boys and girls ages 1.5-12 years, Dance To EvOLvE offers Tap, Ballet, & Hip Hop. Classes are all age-appropriate & include fun dance curriculums. Having a great time is the name of the game here, not competition dance, and heart-warming smiles are guaranteed!

Dance To EvOLvE offers a unique and fun way for kids to get involved in dance classes. The teachers at EvOLvE make sure to create an encouraging learning environment by keeping the classes full of energy and positivity. The team has already inspired children from all demographics to enroll in their classes throughout the East Cleveland area.  Since the main focus of EvOLvE’s dance classes for kids is not on preparing the students to join a professional dance company, every child is able to learn the fundamentals of dance in a fun, stress-free setting. For kids this means no yelling teachers and more stickers and smiles! And EvOLvE is certainly not lacking in the sticker department (seriously, we’ve got rolls and rolls of them!).

Besides maintaining this very important and never ending sticker collection, the team also focuses on teaching age appropriate classes with fun props and creative techniques. For example, the Tiny Movers class is a combination of ballet and tap dancing or tumbling designed for kid’s ages 3-4.5 years old. The class gets the kids moving and teaches them musicality, and most importantly the class is fun! It is also very adorable to watch little ballerinas twirl around, but that is just an added benefit. EvOLvE offers these great classes for children ages 14 months all the way through 12 years old.

The progressive dance classes enable kids to always take that next step to keep them challenged, learning and having fun.  All toddlers and kids dance classes are great for both boys and girls, and all are encouraged (but not required) to participate in the annual spring recital. Check out descriptions of all kids dance classes here.

But Why Dance Class?

Well, there are actually several benefits to placing a child into dance at a young age. Besides the obvious “they are getting exercise” reason, dance class can also be a great place for kids to learn confidence, respect, and discipline in a positive atmosphere.

EvOLvE is happy to bring kids dance classes to Cleveland area suburbs where the focus will be on building kids confidence. Dance class also helps children learn to listen to direction and apply corrections given to them by the dance teacher. While we cannot guarantee this will translate to your kid doing the dishes when asked, it is always worth a try!  Plus, the skills a child learns today in dance class from the teacher will carry on to be used in everyday life even after they stop dancing. The teachers at EvOLvE work specifically with the children on curriculum that ensures the entire class is growing and improving.  EvOLvE strives to instill impacting lessons in every class that the students can carry with them as they further their education.

Summer Dance Class Themes with Dance to EvOLvE

Posted by Helen McCarthy on May 27, 2017 8:14:01 PM

Summer is fast approaching - crazy right!? With the kids home all day without school you are going to want activities that keep them active, involved, and social. Luckily, at Dance To EvOLvE we have been hard at work planning themed weeks to keep our our current kids dance classes fun and fresh this summer!

FullSizeRender 2 copy.jpg

What better way to kickstart the summer than to dance outside? The summer themes begin with Dance Outside Week, where dancers get to enjoy the beautiful weather that comes with the new season (or lack thereof at our San Diego locations). Teachers often choose to spend the games portion of class outside, or even teach their entire class in the fresh air! These activities will be in safe, shady areas, but be sure that your dancers bring plenty of water on this day so that they stay hydrated!

The fun outdoors doesn't end there – get ready for anything and everything bubbles on Bubble Day! Teachers might add an under the sea mermaid twist to the theme or opt for a more whimsical take on the idea. During game time dancers will have an opportunity to venture outdoors to play with all types of bubbles. From large bubbles they can chase with friends to small bubble wands they can twirl around with, your little one will have many opportunities to find creative ways to incorporate bubbles into movement and dance.

DSC_0397-2-1.jpg

During Beach Week we bring the tropical mindset to the studio! Our San Diego students are already familiar with the sandy beaches by the ocean, so this is a fun way to incorperate their favorite summertime activities into dance class. Dancers at our Chicago locations will get to travel to more coastal shores without hopping on a plane. On beach days dancers get to dress in their favorite beach-going attire – a super fun way to switch up their normal dance class routine. Beach themed games will be set up during the allotted game time. Sure to be a blast!

Families, you will get a chance to put on your dancing shoes and learn a few steps from your young dancer during Parents Get Involved Day! This class is all about being a part of the Dance To EvOLvE family, so you definitely do not want to miss out. You can look forward to some partner dancing with your little one, and they will love to show you what they have been learning in class. Older dancers will also have the opportunity to teach their families some new moves they learned – a super fun activity for all participants that is guaranteed to improve dance parties at home.

IMG_5448.jpg

Switch Up The Style Day is a great way to expose our students to different dance styles that they might not have learned before! For example, classes during this week could potentially incorporate some hip-hop moves into a ballet/tap class. Teachers might choose to change up small sections of the routines throughout the class or simply change the entire class to a different style. The possibilities are endless with this theme, and we can’t wait to see the unique ideas our teachers come up with!

The Dance to EvOLvE team is excited to experience the creativity and laughter that our themed summer classes bring – from enjoying the great outdoors, to fun with costumes and bubbles, to seeing YOU bust some moves on the dance floor! Be sure to keep your eye of for these special classes on the announcement page so that your dancer is a part of the fun!

If you are looking for other ways to keep your little one active this summer, look no further than our Dance To EvOLvE summer camps! We are hosting a wide range of themes and locations this summer that are a perfect way to creatively focus their energy, keep their minds active, and build friendships outside of school. Go check them out!

Three Reasons to Attend Kid’s Dance Camp In San DiegoYour Blog Post Title Here...

Posted by Brittany White on Mar 1, 2017 10:39:29 AM

1-3391805252010121953.jpgKid's dance camps are a fun way for your little ones to receive focused dance training. In addition to having more hours dedicated to dancing for a period of time, your little dancers will also be able to have tons of fun! Each city and location that kids dance camp takes place in, can offer a variety of benefits and unique additions to the dancing experience. San Diego is definitely one of those excellent cities! Here are three reasons to explore kid’s dance camp in San Diego.

1. Sunshine

Part of the appeal of kid's dance camp in San Diego is that it allows for plenty of outdoor activities. San Diego is a city known for its sunshine. It is estimated that there is sunshine in San Diego for 68% of the whole year! The sunshine and pleasant weather will allow your kids to do more dance activities outside and enjoy the warm weather! A downside to the amount of sunshine is that it can often be dangerous for the skin. That is why it is important to make sure your little ones are wearing sunscreen, and on those really hot weeks, check out an indoor summer dance camp.

2. Vibrant Dance Community

San Diego has a very vibrant dance community. The dance community breeches across various dance styles. This apparent in the various dance studios around the city for people of all ages. This sets the stage for a dance-positive atmosphere in kid's camp. Most teachers in kids camp in San Diego will not only be passionate about dance but will also be able to pass that on to your little ones. A positive dance atmosphere is something San Diego has and that is very apparent at kids camp!

3. Happy People

Perhaps it is because of the good weather but people in San Diego are generally nicer, happier and more relaxed.
For that reason your little one will most likely encounter some well-humored and nice people at kid’s dance camp. This will build a sense of community and make your child feel much better about themselves as they improve their social skills. San Diego is a great place for kid's dance camp! We encourage you to have your kids attend one!

5 Benefits of Summer Dance Camps For Kids

Posted by Brittany White on Feb 15, 2017 11:25:06 AM

summer dance campAs the weather warms up and schools let out for the summer, many parents find themselves searching for daytime activities for their children. There are so many options available, it can sometimes be overwhelming to choose. Summer dance camp is a wonderful choice for both boys and girls. With a variety of benefits: physical, mental, and social (we’ve listed five benefits below)...why not find a summer dance camp near you today?

1. Improved Learning Skills:

In dance class or summer dance camp, your child will develop the ability to focus and understand the concept of discipline. These skills learned through dance will carry into all areas of life, including both home and school settings. These educational skills learned and practiced in summer camp will stick with your child as he or she enters the new school year, and will lead to an improved academic performance!

2. Beat Summer Boredom!

While many children look forward to summer all year long, without a daytime activity, the days can tend to drag on. Summer dance camps provide a variety of fun for children as they learn new moves, play fun games, and develop creativity. As children experience new dance styles and learn new skills, they may just decide that dance is a hobby they’d like to stick with all year long!

3. Improved Social Skills:

2-3.jpgSummer dance camp is the perfect place for your children to make new friends. As your child gains self confidence, he/she will also become more comfortable meeting new people and building relationships. As children learn new dancing skills and choreography together, they learn to work as a team. Additionally, more reserved children can learn to overcome shyness and stage fright through fun performances often held at the conclusion of a camp session.

4. Improved Physical Health:

Dance is a form of aerobic activity; it is a sure way to keep your child moving and grooving for an extended period of time. According to a study conducted by Pro Dance Center, regular dance practice can also increase your child's flexibility, range of motion, physical strength and stamina. Enrolling in a summer dance camp provides your children with an opportunity to improve their balance and coordination, and it is a great way for them to begin developing healthy habits and healthy hearts!

5. Improved Self-Confidence:

Dance provides children with an outlet for self expression. Learning to express their feelings in a new way provides opportunity for improved self esteem. As children master new dance skills and become more aware of how their bodies work and move, they will gain a sense of accomplishment. The pride that comes with achievement prompts children to feel more confident in themselves! The confidence found in dancing is something that often sticks with children through out their entire lives.

3-5.jpgThese are only five benefits of summer dance camps, but the list goes on! Whether your child has years of dance experience or none at all, be sure to check out the dance camps near you this summer! Local dance studios offer a variety of options from ballet, to choreography, to hip-hop and more. Start your research and be sure to get registered early...secure a spot in the perfect camp for your child today!

New Children’s Dance Classes in Chicago

Posted by Brittany White on Nov 29, 2016 4:53:14 PM

The Windy City has new children’s dance classes available! Here at Dance To EvOLvE, we are proud to announce that we will be holding kids dance classes in Rogers Park beginning January 2017. Additionally, we will also be hosting after school/daycare programs where your children can dance with us!

If you’re on the fence about signing your child up for kid’s dance classes, check out the reasons we encourage even the littlest ones to start dancing! Here, we have put together great information about the benefits of dance at an early age. It introduces kids to a different way of thinking, expands their socialization skills and keeps them physically healthy.

DTEchildballerina.jpg

What Dancing Does at a Young Age

While you might think that your children are too young to be taking dance classes, think of all the benefits that dance brings along. Dancing allows children the freedom of expression in a way few other activities can. This can often open up a new perspective of thinking that will carry on with them throughout their lives. Examined Existence, a website that studies the different activities that affect the human body, states that “experts from Stanford University say that dancing is great at involving all the brain functions simultaneously – from musical and kinesthetic, to rational and emotional.” Not only does dance help young individuals feel more confident in expressing themselves and utilizing their mind, but overall young dancers have a major advantage of unlocking their fullest potential. Children’s dance classes help those who want to learn the true art form of expression the opportunity to channel their skill and energy into a positive and grand spectrum. As an added bonus, allowing them to exhaust all their energy in a kid’s dance class instead of home means less clean up work and a happier/healthier child (and parent for that matter)!

ballet_dance_classes_for_kid.jpg

The Importance of Arts Within a Community

When it comes to the arts, The Windy City is blowing us away with their new innovative and intricate mindsets.  Whether it be music, drawing or children's dance classes, these mindsets often stem from young individuals that make an impact within the community. Allowing for a community to build means a better future, which is the true purpose of art. In Strengthening Communities Through Dance by Dee Decker, the author states “Many key principles of social interaction including creativity and teamwork are displayed at community dances.  Dancers are allowed to express their creativity in a nonverbal format. [...] Through dance, we are laying the foundation to share in the camaraderie, to be healthier, and to strengthen communities.”

Art allows for individuals to come together to build, create, and discover. Within a community we build relations with one another, we create memories that will last us a lifetime, and we discover ourselves. Be involved in your community by signing your child up for kid’s dance classes and watch the social connections blossom!

How Can I Make Sure My Child Fully Expresses Themselves

Allowing your child to stray from daily routine by putting them in some extracurricular activity that they enjoy is the first step. The second step is to make sure that your child works to their fullest potential, which means balancing work, nutrition, and fun. The third step, which is the most important step, is to guide them throughout the process and in life in general. It’s not enough to just hold their hands or to sign them up for what you see as beneficial, but actually get involved. Parental Rights, a website that delivers information to protect children by empowering parents states, “students with involved parents tend to earn higher grades, have better social skills, and are more likely to graduate and go on to post-secondary education.” So this means that the parent cheering for their child during a basketball game or practicing dance drills with them before a recital is more encouraging than the parent that just lets their child run amuck. Get involved with your children, because to them you're irreplaceable.

Benefits Within The Different Styles of Kids Dance Classes

Posted by Brittany White on Sep 6, 2016 9:04:07 PM

Kids: they dance before they learn there is anything that isn’t music.” -William Stafford
DSC_0469-2-2.jpg

Children are natural movers and shakers! Anyone who has children, younger siblings, or has babysat know they have bundles of energy. It takes them nearly a year to take their first steps, but once they’re on their feet, there is no stopping them!

Kids are constantly moving. They move to express their feelings or thoughts; when they’re happy, they tend to bounce up and down and when they’re sad or angry, they throw themselves on the ground. Children move to achieve mobility and for the sake of it! They don't always have full control of their movements but when they become aware and consciously structure their movements, it becomes dance.

Between the ages of 2 and 5, children are in a sensitive developmental stage and learn quickly. According to the Child Development Institute, parents are encouraged to prepare their kids for starting school. This includes interactions with other peers and basic learning skills. Regardless if it is between the ages of 2 and 5, parents can begin exposing their child to activities at any moment they feel most comfortable.

Children's dance classes are a great activity for kids to release and control the energy they have! Dance is a great exposure to understanding art, culture, and ourselves. It allows a person to gain a sense of power and relief. Not only is it a great form of exercise, but it benefits kids physically, cognitively, socially, and emotionally. The good thing about dance classes is that there are different types of dance and every day is different. We have different styles and age groups here at Dance To EvOLvE.

summer_dance_camp_1-1.jpg

Tap Classes

Tap dancing is a very upbeat and hoppy style of dance. The unique part about this style is that it can be performed without music. If your child enjoys banging on objects or bouncing up and down, tap dance classes are a great way to use their feet like drums!

Ballet Classes    12002109_949039958472821_6478492261576882758_n-1.jpg

Ballet, on the other hand, is more structured and precise. The movements are more graceful and appear effortless. It requires a bit more control and concentration. Ballet dance classes can help children express themselves because every movement has a meaning. It also is a cool way to teach them a new language because French terminology is used!

Hip Hop Classes

HH_Freeze.jpeg

Hip hop classes are fun for kids because not every movement has to be the same as the kid next to them. Kids dance it the way they want and add their own funk to it. This dance style is another way for children to release their energy because it is a high energy dance class.

Kids dance classes are fun because most classes will have themes to enhance creativity and imagination. You can always check out which dance classes develop which skills.

Children enjoy playing and learning new things. Dance classes for kids give them that opportunity to explore and understand their bodies and self. The variety of dance styles and themes make children enjoy every moment they move and groove!

Have your child release their energy in a healthy and beneficial way and sign them up for dance classes today! Let them move freely and express themselves while also having fun! If you are hesitant about what classes to try out or unsure how your child will behave in each class, you can always sign up for a trial class here!
